LOCATION: Goodwill parking lot
MILES DRIVEN SINCE LAST CHARGE: 132.8 miles since last charge.
KWH USED: 45.4 kWh used.
TYPE OF CHARGER: Tesla Supercharger
LOCATION DETAILS: This Supercharging station was a wonderful stop for us. We were able to hit up the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, which was about five minutes away from the charging location.
The Supercharger itself is located right next to a Dairy Queen and the County Store, a 24-hour grocery store, and a Good will, among other businesses.
WHAT WE DID WHILE CHARGING: While the vehicle was charging, we stopped at Dairy Queen for a cold, delicious treat on this hot afternoon. Our 40-minute charge was perfect timing as we finished our Blizzards a few minutes after our charge was complete.
TIME START: 3:58 p.m.
TIME END: 4:40 p.m.
LENGTH OF CHARGE: 42 minutes
WH/MILE: 332 Wh/mi
HOW WE’RE FEELING: Hot!! It is 80 degrees and the sun is shining bright – it’s truly a beautiful day for road tripping. As far as the actual drive itself, we enjoyed a very easy trek on Interstate 90 and we knew we didn’t have to worry about running out of charge before our next destination. People passing us on the Interstate were in awe of the Tesla – a couple of gentleman even asked us to “go faster” so they could see the what the car could do. We accommodated within reason.
OTHER NOTES: During this charging stop, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Brandon, a lineman with Douglas Electric Cooperative in South Dakota. Amanda ran back to the DQ quick before heading out of town and she noticed a sticker that said “I ❤ My Lineman” on a van in the parking lot. His family came out just as we were snapping a photo of their sticker and we got to chat with them for a few minutes. He’s been a busy lineman, along with others at his cooperative, replacing broken and damaged electric poles and power lines after the South Dakota ice storms two weeks ago.
